Effect of E-Learning on Students’ Emotion and Achievement in Mathematics Among Senior Secondary School Students in Oyo State

This study investigated the effect of E-learning on emotion and achievement in Mathematics in Senior Secondary Schools in Afijio Local Government, Oyo State. The study employed the quasi-experimental design. The population for this study was forty secondary school students in the study area. Four schools were selected using simple random sampling. Eighty students comprise of forty males and forty females were selected as sample. The Instruments used for this study were Mathematics Achievement Test and Emotion Inventory Test which were validated by experts with reliability coefficient of 0.82 and 0.67respectively using the Cronbanch alpha. ANCOVA was used for data analysis. Results showed that there is a significant difference between the pre-emotion and the post-emotion scores; there is a significant difference in e-learning and the traditional method on post intervention scores on achievement in mathematics; there is no significant difference between the male and females pre-emotion and post-emotion scores given the intervention on mathematics; and there is no significant difference between the males and females achievement scores given the intervention on mathematics. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that workshop should be organized for in-service mathematics teachers on the need for use of E-learning platforms to teach mathematics.
Effect of Problem-Based Learning on Secondary School Students’ Engagement in Chemistry in Onitsha Education Zone

The study determined the effect of problem-based learning on secondary school students’ engagement in chemistry in Onitsha Education Zone. Two research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. Quasi-experimental design was used. The population of the study was 1, 821 SS2 students offering chemistry in Onitsha Education Zone The sample size was 144. The instruments used are Students Engagement Questionnaire (SEQ) validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha reliability of SEQ was 0.77. Mean and standard deviation and analysis of covariance was used for data analysis. The findings PBL significantly improved achievement in chemistry more than conventional method. It was concluded that PBL is effective for making students to be seriously engaged in the learning process of chemistry. It was recommended among others that chemistry teachers should always adopt the use of PBL to ensure greater engagement `of students in the learning process while improving their cognitive, emotional and behavioral engagements.
Level of Awareness, Attitude and Coping Strategies Towards Covid-19 Among Secondary School Students in Minna Metropolis of Niger State, Nigeria

The study was carried out to determine the level of awareness, attitude and coping strategies towards COVID-19 among secondary students in Minna metropolis of Niger State, Nigeria. Three objectives with corresponding research questions guided the study. A cross-sectional survey research design was adopted for the study. A total of 168 secondary school students in Minna metropolis of Niger state form the sample for the study. The instrument used for the study was Researchers designed questionnaire that was divided into three sections; awareness, attitude and coping strategy. The questionnaire was validated by experts and Cronbach Alpha’s value was computed to ascertain the internal consistency. The reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was obtained to be 0.86. The collected data were analysed using Mean and Standard deviation with a criterion mean of 2.5 as the basis for judgment. Findings revealed that students have positive attitude and awareness towards the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, it was recommended among others that secondary school management should continue to enlighten students to sustain their attitude and awareness towards the COVID-19 pandemic.
Impact of Facilitation Technique on Academic Performance of Integrated Science Students in Living Components of the Environment in Tertiary Institution in North-Central Nigeria

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of facilitation technique on academic performance of integrated science students in living components of the environment in tertiary institution in North Central Nigeria. The population of the study consisted of 135 integrated science students from University of Jos in North-Central Nigeria who were also used as sample. These students were divided into two groups of experimental and control using simple random sampling technique of slip papers with numbers 1 and 2. Those who picked 1 were tagged experimental group and those with 2 were tagged control. The experimental group had 68 (35 males and 33 females) students, while the control group had 67 (35 males and 32 females) students. The instrument used for collecting the data was Living Components of the Environment Performance Test (LCEPT) developed by the researcher. The LCEPT has a reliability coefficient (r) of 0.86. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation, while the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The major findings from this study showed that students taught using facilitation technique performed higher than those taught using lecture method. It also showed no gender difference in the performance of male and female students. It was recommended among others that integrated science teachers should be encouraged to use facilitation technique in teaching science concepts.
Awareness, Willingness and Readiness of Pre-Service Teachers to Deploy Artificial Intelligence in Education in Ebonyi State

The study investigated the awareness of artificial intelligence in education among pre-service teachers in Ebonyi State. A descriptive survey research design was adopted. The study samples comprised 100 pre-service teachers who are students from the Departments of Science Education and Arts and Languages Education from AE-FUNAI and EBSU. Three research questions guided the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics of simple percentage and mean were used to answer the research questions. Findings of the study revealed that the pre-service teachers are aware of the existence of artificial intelligence in education and are also willing and ready to deploy artificial intelligence to teaching and learning. Consequently, it is recommended that more awareness on the availability of artificial intelligence tools be made to pre-service teachers, curriculum planners should review the curriculum with the view of incorporating artificial intelligence into the curriculum for schools’ government and other stakeholders should provide artificial intelligence tools in schools.
Repositioning Women Education for National Development

The proverb saying “If you educate a woman, you educate the nation” translates the power of educated women in the development of a nation and proves that with education every woman is a star. Beside the women’s vast roles that linger their struggles and anticipations towards acquiring knowledge for national growth and development, education enables women to take advantage of opportunities that could help them to identify and understand their legal rights and allow them to fully participate in socio-political and economic aspects of society anytime. This paper discusses the meaning of education, women’s education, and national development. It also focuses on the content, the objectives and the significance of women’s education. The paper further examines the barriers to women’s education such as; poverty, culture, insecurity, gender inequality and recommends that government should establish functional women centers in every ward across the federation where women could be empowered with skills and knowledge for self-reliance among others.
Impact of Entrepreneurship Education and Recycling of Waste Papers on Entrepreneurship Skills Development of Science Education Students

This study investigated the impact of entrepreneurship education and recycling of waste papers on entrepreneurship skills development among science education students in Enugu State University of Science and Technology. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Two hundred and forty-five (245) students randomly selected from the population of five hundred and twenty-four (524) science education students, comprising of one hundred and twenty-five (125) females and one hundred and twenty (120) males were used for the study. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The relationship between the study groups previously acquired skills before exposure and acquisition of entrepreneurship skills after exposure of male and female students were analyzed using 2x2 contingency chi-square test. P<0.05 was considered as significant. Results showed that entrepreneurship education and recycling of waste paper for the production of pulps promoted acquisition of entrepreneurship skills. This study recommended among others that entrepreneurship education to undergraduates will help in reducing unemployment and empowering the youths to be job creators.
Challenges and Prospects of Teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Education Through ICT in Nigeria

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, And Mathematics (STEAM) education was evolved to serve as a way out for the present century challenges, where ICT played a significant role in changing the present world. It is recorded that ICT tools improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning STEAM subjects. Unfortunately, there are many challenges affecting the use of ICT in Nigeria. In this paper, teachers’ competency on ICT, ICT infrastructure, internet connectivity, electric power supply, sustainability and funds were discussed as major challenges militating the use of ICTs in STEAM teaching. Prospects are; effective and creative learning, producing responsible citizens, removing gender barrier and improving teacher-students relations. It is concluded that for the attainment of the aims of STEAM education in Nigeria, the traditional mode of teaching needs to be shifted to ICT pedagogical approach. The paper suggests the inclusion of ICT education in teacher training programs so that the upcoming STEAM teachers would be competent to utilized ICT tools as a mode of teaching.
Brain-Computer Interface: Application and Challenges

The continual advancement of technology and computing has resulted in the creation of various innovative, remarkable works and products that continue to alter peoples perceptions of reality around the world. The introduction an emerging field of technology Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) has changed the way people interact with computers. The major goal of BCI researchers is to create a link that allows direct communication between the brain and the computer. BCI has a wide range of uses and possibilities, from allowing disabled people to communicate with the outside world to improving military intelligence and countering terrorism in countries. BCI implementation, on the other hand, is still limited to research and laboratories, and it is not yet operational in actual real world use. This paper discuss the fundamentals of BCI, as well as its applications and the problems that have prevented its advancement and development in time and public systems use.
Gender Differences on Upper Basic Students’ Interest and Performance in Basic Science Using the Asei-Pdsi Teaching Approach in Bauchi Metropolis

The study investigated gender differences on students’ interest and performance in Basic science using ASEI-PDSI (Activity, Student-centred, Experiment, Improvisation – Plan, Do, See and Improve) teaching approach. The design of the study was quasi-experimental research design. Simple random sampling was employed to select 82 students from two intact classes. Basic Science Performance Test (BSPT) and Basic Science Interest Rating Scale (BSIRS) were the instruments for data collection. The reliability of BSPT and BSIRS was determined using Kuder-Richardson 20 (K-R20) and Cronbach Alpha and the reliability coefficient 0.81 and 0.75 was obtained respectively. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while, the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using ANCOVA. The findings of the study revealed that, there was no significant gender difference in the interest and performance. The study recommended that, the application of ASEI-PDSI can bridged the gender gap in students’ interest and performance.
Impact of Teachers Qualification and Teaching Workload on Mathematics Performance Among Senior Secondary School II Students in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

This study investigated the impact of teachers’ qualification and teaching workload on mathematics performance among SSS2 students in Kaduna state, Nigeria. Ex-post facto research design was adopted. The study used SSS2 students in Kaduna with population of 42,121students. In order to ensure that each school had an equal chance of being chosen, a simple random sampling technique was employed where 450 students were randomly selected as sample size. Two research instruments: Mathematics Performance Test (MPT) and Teaching Facilities Inventory (TFI) was used. These instruments were validated and reliability coefficient estimated as r=0.93 and r=0.86 respectively. Findings indicated that there were significant differences in the performance of students taught by graduates with education qualification and also there were significant differences in the performance of students whose teachers have appropriate workload and those overloaded. The study concluded that, education qualification should be mandatory requirement for teaching mathematics in secondary schools with appropriate workload for teachers.
Competencies Needed for Retraining Technical Teachers in Solar Power System to Mitigate the Impact of Climate Change in Enugu State

The study aimed at determining the competencies needed for retraining technical teachers in solar power system. Three research questions guided the study. Three null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. There were 34 respondents, (19 technical teachers and 15 Technical Education students) from University of Nigeria Nsukka and Enugu State University of Science and Technology respectively. There was no sampling because the total population was used. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire faced validated by three experts; two from Technology Education and one from Measurement and evaluation, all from ESUT. A reliability coefficient of 0.71 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha method. The data collected was analyzed using mean with standard deviation and t-test statistic. Recommendations were made among others that industries should be involved in retraining of technical teachers in solar power system.
Women Empowerment in Technology and Vocational Education to Mitigate Global Imbalance and Economic Exclusion in Enugu State

The study aimed at investigating women empowerment in Technology and Vocational Education to mitigate global imbalance and economic exclusion in Enugu State. Three research questions guided the study. Three null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised 110 respondents (40 university teachers, 50 students and 20 admission officers) all from University of Nigeria Nsukka and Enugu State University of Science and Technology. There was no sampling because the entire population was used. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire. The instrument was validated by five experts. A reliability coefficient of 0.71 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha method. The data collected was analyzed using mean with standard deviation and t-test statistic. The result revealed lack of gender quota system policy in admission, appointment and promotion; implementation was recommended among others.
Effect of Metaconceptual Teaching Approach on Students’ Academic Achievement and Interest in Quantum Physics in Enugu Education Zone

This study investigated the effect of meta-conceptual teaching approach on students’ academic achievement and interest in secondary school Physics in Enugu Education Zone. Four research questions and six null hypotheses guided the study. The design was Quasi-Experimental. The population for the study was 3,916 SS2 Physics students in the Zone. Purposive sampling and random sampling were used to select 60 students. The experimental group was taught using a meta-conceptual teaching approach while the control group was taught using the conventional method. The instrument for data collection were 50 Physics Achievement Test (PAT) and Physics Interest Scale (PIS) which were validated by three experts and tested for reliability using Kuder-Richardson’s formula-20 and Cronbach alpha which yielded coefficients 0.87 and 0.86 respectively. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and Analysis of Covariance. The results showed that students in the meta-conceptual teaching approach achieved better than their counterparts. It was recommended that physics teachers incorporate a meta-conceptual teaching approach in teaching.
Self-Efficacy, Study Habit and Attribution Style as Predictors of Senior Secondary School Students’ Achievement in Biology in Ogidi Education Zone

This study investigated self-efficacy, study habit and attribution style as predictors of secondary school students’ achievement in Biology in Ogidi Education Zone, Anambra state. Four research questions and four null hypotheses guided the study. Correlational research design was adopted in the study. The population of the students was 2875 Biology students in Ogidi Education Zone out of which 800 students were sampled for the study. Students Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES), Study Habit Inventory (SHI) and Attribution Style for Students (ASS) validated by three experts were used as instruments for data collection. The reliability coefficient of SSES, SHI and ASS were established using Cronbach’s Alpha and the reliability indices obtained were 0.889, 0.748, 0.719 and 0. 966 respectively. Data from the study was analyzed using simple and multiple linear regressions. Findings from the study revealed significant relationship between students’ self-efficacy, study habits and students’ achievement. There was no significant relationship between attribution style and achievement. It was recommended that the Federal, State and Local government should organize workshop, seminars and conferences for teachers and other school administrators to sensitize students on the importance of self-efficacy and study habit and their roles in achievement in Biology.
