Awareness, Accessibility and Utilization of Digital Assistive Technologies in the 21st Century Pedagogy of the Hearing Impaired Students in Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo

Abstract
The acquisition of 21st century learning skills leaves no exemption for learners with challenges in the society. Given this, this study assesses the awareness, accessibility, and utilization of digital assistive technologies (DAT) by the hearing impaired students as well as the challenges they encounter using them in a special college of education. The study samples 52 hearing impaired students, and it was guided by 5 research questions and 3 null hypotheses. Two instruments were used: a checklist measuring awareness and accessibility of digital assistive technologies and a questionnaire measuring utilisation of DAT, challenges and remedies to the use of DAT. Both instruments were validated by two specialists in special education. While the checklist's reliability was established using Cohen's Kappa inter-rater agreement, which yielded a coefficient of 0.71, indicating substantial agreement, the questionnaire's reliability coefficient of 0.78 was established using Cronbach's Alpha. Data were analyzed using simple percentages, mean calculations and independent sampled T-tests. The findings reveal that above 50% of the sampled students is aware of the checked digital devices and software and can access them but only hearing aids, automatic subtitles, learning applications, cell-phones/Ipads and computers are utilised. Also, the study reveals that accessibility and utilization are not gender biased. From the stance of challenges, the Hearing Impaired students establish that most of the software and applications are not easily accessed, and they have little knowledge about the use of some of them. Thus, the study recommends, among other things, that stakeholders and the government should prioritize the provision of digital assistive technologies as well as subsidize the cost for the challenged students, and ensure that adequate technical supports are given to the hearing impaired students while using some of the digital devices.

Lapses in Biological Drawings Amongst Secondary School Biology Students in Obollo – Afor Education Zone, Enugu State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study identified Lapses in Biological Drawings amongst Senior Secondary School Biology Students. Three research questions were raised. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprises 2,655 Senior Secondary II (SS2) students. A sample of 266 was used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a summary checklist for Students' Biological Drawing Lapses Test (SBDLT) on the five drawings under study. The instrument was face validated by three lecturers; two lecturers from Biology units and one lecturer from measurement and evaluation unit. There was no reliability of instrument since the researcher used a checklist. SBDLT were administered to the students to draw five biological diagrams on plain paper. Thereafter, the students' lapses in drawings were sorted using the summary checklist. These lapses collected were grouped into frequencies, computed, and arranged in tables. It was analyzed using frequency tables and percentages; the students' lapses in the biological drawings. The percentages of the students' errors in different aspects of biological drawings were used to answer the research questions. The findings of the study revealed that Students had lapses in; writing the title of the diagrams appropriately, working out magnification (size) of the diagrams and adhering to the rules of the drawing. Conclusion was drawn that students' lapses in biological drawings contribute to students' poor performance and gender is also a factor. It was recommended among others that Biology teachers should adopt innovative strategies to teach practically, biology diagrams and students should engage with drawing biological diagrams regularly.

Attribution and Self-Regulation as Predictors of Junior Secondary School Students' Academic Achievements in Basic Science in Awka Education Zone

Abstract
This study investigated the predictive roles of attribution and self-regulation on academic achievement in Basic Science among Junior Secondary School II (JSS II) students in the Awka Education Zone of Anambra State, Nigeria. The study was guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses and employed a correlational survey research design to examine how these psychological factors influence students' performance. The population comprised 5,963 JSS II students from 63 public secondary schools in the zone, from which a sample of 375 students was selected using a multistage sampling procedure. Data were collected using three instruments: the Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ), Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ), and Basic Science Achievement Test (BSAT). All instruments were face-validated by three experts, with the BSAT undergoing content validation and the ASQ and SRQ subjected to construct validation. Reliability was determined using Cronbach's alpha for ASQ and SRQ, yielding coefficients of 0.84 and 0.81, respectively, and Kuder-Richardson-20 (KR-20) for BSAT, which produced a coefficient of 0.79. Data analysis was conducted using simple and multiple regression techniques; simple regression addressed research questions 1 and 2, while multiple regression was used for research question 3. Hypotheses were tested at a 0.05 significance level. Results indicated that attribution did not significantly predict Basic Science achievement, whereas self-regulation had a significant but weak positive predictive effect, accounting for 11.2% of the variance. The combined effect of attribution and self-regulation explained 11.4% of the variance in achievement, demonstrating significant joint predictive power. The study concluded that self-regulation is a key predictor of Basic Science achievement, while attribution alone has a limited predictive influence. It is recommended that educators prioritize strategies that enhance self-regulation to improve students' academic performance.

Comparative Effects of Peer Tutoring and Cooperative Learning Instructional Strategies on Senior Secondary Schools Students' Academic Achievement in Biology

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the comparative effects of two instructional strategies on secondary school students’ academic achievement in Biology in Nsukka Education Zone, Nigeria. Three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research design. A sample of 120 students was drawn from four public co-educational schools in Nsukka Education Zone of Enugu state. Four intact classes were selected and were further divided into two experimental groups, two classes were treated using peer tutoring and cooperative learning instructional strategies from each schools respectively. The two experimental groups were exposed to pre-test and post-test respectively. The instrument used for data collection was the Biology Achievement Test (BAT). The research questions were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while the null hypotheses were tested using analysis of covariance at 0.05 level of significance. Results obtained revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean achievement scores of students taught Biology using peer tutoring and those taught using cooperative learning instructional strategies. The students taught with Cooperative Learning had better academic achievement. The female students performed better than their male counterpart. Also, there was a significant interaction effect of instructional strategies and gender on students’ academic achievement in Biology. In line with the study, it was recommended that cooperative learning instructional strategy should be adopted more often than peer tutoring by Biology teachers to improve students’ academic achievement in Biology.

Abstract
Climate change presents a critical threat to global ecosystems, economic stability, and human well-being. Its intensifying effects including rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and ecosystem disruptions demand innovative mitigation and adaptation strategies. Technological advancement remains central to these efforts, particularly in improving energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting sustainability across major economic sectors. This study examines the role of technology in mitigating climate change within transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing. A descriptive survey design was adopted, using a validated researcher-developed questionnaire administered to a sample of 150 respondents drawn equally from the three sectors. Reliability testing produced a Cronbach's alpha of 0.82, confirming the instrument's internal consistency. Descriptive statistics (percentages) were used for analysis. Findings revealed low availability and adoption of electric vehicles, limited access to renewable energy technologies in agriculture, inadequate industrial emission-control systems, and insufficient government incentives. The study concludes that strategic implementation of advanced technologies supported by robust policy frameworks and infrastructural investment can significantly reduce the impacts of climate change. It recommends increased government support, integration of renewable energy systems, and improved adoption of emission-reduction technologies across all sectors.

Comparison of Item Parameters of Traditionally Developed and Artificial Intelligence Generated Tests in Basic Science in Kafanchan Education Zone

Abstract
The study compared the Item Parameters of Traditionally Developed and Artificial Intelligence Generated Tests in Basic Science in Kafanchan Education Zone. An instrumentation research design was utilized. JS3 Basic Science Students in public secondary schools constituted the study's population. Multistage sampling technique was used and sample of 1200 respondents employed. The instruments utilized to collect the data were the AIGTIBS and TDTIBS, whose reliability coefficients were 0.92 and 0.86, respectively determined using Kuder-Richardson 20 (K-R20). jMetrik was used to determine the item parameters and ability estimates. The results showed that Basic Science test items for both instruments AI and TD item parameters were within a normal acceptable range. In conclusion, the study suggested that Item Response Theory (IRT) should be use for assessing the psychometric qualities of test items. The recommendations; includes workshops and seminars should be carried out by the government and stakeholders to train Basic Science teachers on the usage of IRT software such as JMetriks and R-package.

Roles of Mathematics Textbooks in Mathematics Education in Basic Education

Abstract
The study discussed the roles of mathematics textbooks in basic education in Kontagora education zone, Niger State. A descriptive survey research method was adopted. Five research questions guided the research. Population of the research comprised of mathematics teachers and administrators in basic schools in the zone. Purposive sampling was adopted in selecting two hundred and fifty-six respondents {[Administrators (public=44 and private=20) and [Mathematics teachers (public=139 and private=53]}. A questionnaire “MATAQ” based on four point ranking scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.641 after. Data collected was analysed using mean response to answer the research questions. Results of the study indicated that textbooks played a central role in teachers' lesson preparations and in selection of practice exercises for the learners at this level of education. It was recommended that every learner should be made to have a copy of mathematics textbook at affordable cost because of its usefulness to their studies.

Lecturers' Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Willingness to Integrate it in Teaching Language Courses in Ghana

Abstract
The study sought to investigate Ghanaian language lecturers' perceptions of AI and their willingness to integrate it into their teaching. The study targeted 120 lecturers from Colleges of Education in Ghana. An online questionnaire (reliability of Likert-scale constructs, Cronbach's alpha coefficient = 0.752) was used in a cross-sectional survey. Findings showed that confidence levels play a significant role in the integration of AI and this factor is a strong predictor of willingness (B = 0.571, p < .001). Additionally, the confidence factor moderates the effect of positive perception on willingness (B = –0.124, p = .007). In addition, confidence partially mediates the effect of perceptions on willingness at approximately 38% (B = 0.23, 95% CI [0.14, 0.33]). This means that positive attitudes toward AI were not enough to ensure the successful implementation of this technology in teaching. The study also expands AI research in developing regions and non-STEM contexts. To this end, it is imperative to ensure adequate institutional support and design targeted training programmes that seek to build the confidence of the educators through digital literacy workshops.

Towards an RFID-Based Student Attendance Management System in Higher Education: Objectives, Requirements, and Theoretical Underpinnings

Abstract
Accurate record-keeping of students' class attendance in higher education institutions has been a big challenge. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System has been suggested to be possible solution to this challenge. Therefore, this study investigated the objectives and requirements for developing a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-based Student Attendance Management System (SAMS) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The study adopted the Research and Development (R&D) design. A sample of 72 academic staff from two departments was selected through a total sampling technique. A validated questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.86 was used to collect data for the study. The descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used for data analysis. The results show that the respondents agree that RFID systems enhance accuracy, efficiency, security, and real-time monitoring of students' attendance. It was recommended that the universities should use RFID- based attendance systems since it has the promise of increasing school efficiency and supporting student academic performance.

Effect of Whot-Game on Algebra Anxiety among Senior Secondary School Students in Zamfara State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study examined the effect of the Whot-Game on algebra anxiety among senior secondary school students in Zamfara State, Nigeria. A pretest-posttest nonequivalent quasi-experimental design was adopted. The population comprised of all SSII students in Kaura-Namoda Educational Zone (N = 5225) during the 2023/2024 session. Using purposive sampling, 109 students from two schools were selected and randomly assigned to experimental (52) and control (57) groups. Data were collected using the Algebra Anxiety Questionnaire (AAQ) with a reliability coefficient of 0.89 using the Chronbach's Alpha reliability test. Mean and standard deviation were to answer the research questions, while independent samples t-test ANCOVA tested the hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed there was a significant reduction in algebra anxiety among students taught with the Algebra Whot-Game compared to those taught through the conventional method, it was also found that there was no disparity between male and female students algebra anxiety reduction. The study concludes that there was an effect of whot-game on algebra anxiety among senior secondary school students in Zamfara. The study recommends the integration of algebra whot game into the teaching of algebraic concepts by mathematics teachers in Zamfara State.

Optimization of Some Engineering Characteristics of Agro-Waste Bonded Water Hyacinth (EICHHNIA CRASSIPES) Briquettes

Abstract
An Eco-friendly and sustainable approach to the aquatic plants menace on our rivers, is their briquetting, bonded by (banana, yam and cassava - peels) whose presence causes environmental concerns. The study dedicate attention to characterize the quantity-based effect of agro-waste binders on water hyacinth briquettes. Feedstock materials were sourced and accordingly pretreated to 1.18mm size particles. 30g of water hyacinth was used for each of the experiments, while respective agro-wastes individually at concentration levels of 20% to 80% in step increments of 20% were mixed with water hyacinth and 200ml of boiled water. The feedstock was compacted in a 14.21cm high and 2.14cm wide cylindrical die, hydraulically at 5 MPa with 20 minutes dwell time before ejected for further experimentation. From the results of the study, calorific value of water hyacinth briquettes ranged from 25.534MJ/kg to 26.965MJ/kg and expressed significance within and among binders in terms of calorific values at (p<0.05).

From Theory to Practice: Aligning Science Research with Classroom Realities

Abstract
The function of research is to provide insights into contemporary societal issues and, by doing so, provide answers to the questions that arise. Within educational systems, it informs not only the decision-making process but also influences the teaching and learning process; by proposing improved and more effective teaching methods. The undeniable divide between policy and practice is consequently a significant issue that calls for immediate, organized, and genuine cooperation between researchers and educators, two essential components of the process. This study employs conceptual analysis to explore the chasm between policy and practice and the reasons for the divide. It provides commensurate suggestions for tackling them and also suggests a step-by-step blueprint that stakeholders can use to effectively close the divide. This blueprint will ensure a seamless but enduring transition process. Recommendations were made for educational stakeholders to become actively involved in consolidating the teacher as researcher policy and to expedite actions towards achieving an evidence-backed teaching and learning environment. They were also advised to utilize the blueprint and suggestions recommended by this study to effectively close the divide.

Determinants of AI-Driven Tools Adoption by Senior High School Mathematics Teachers: A Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling Approach

Abstract
The integration of artificial intelligence-driven tools in education has become increasingly popular and widespread in recent years. This study, therefore, investigated how the constructs of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology predict senior high school mathematics teachers' intention to adopt and use AI tools in their lessons. The study employed a quantitative cross-sectional survey design and a structured questionnaire to collect data from 141 mathematics teachers at selected public senior high schools in the Kumasi metropolitan area. The questionnaire showed acceptable reliability (α > 0.70). Data was analysed using PLS-SEM in SmartPLS4. Results show that teachers' behavioural intention to adopt AI tools is significantly influenced by Performance Expectancy (β = 0.405, t = 4.841, p < .001), Social Influence (β = 0.192, t = 2.344, p = .019), and Facilitating Conditions (β = 0.240, t = 2.807, p = .005). However, Effort Expectancy (β = 0.136, t = 1.751, p = .080) was not a significant predictor. This study provides valuable insights into the factors that influence how senior high school mathematics teachers perceive and intend to integrate AI tools into their teaching practices. The study also provides practical suggestions for school authorities and administrators on how to ensure the smooth integration of AI tools to enhance mathematics teaching.

Basic Employability Skills of Final-Year Undergraduate Science and Economics Education Students of a University in Nigeria

Abstract
The employers of labour often express concerns that graduates lack the essential skills required to meet the demands of contemporary jobs. The study, therefore, examines the fundamental employability skills that Science and Economics Education students possess. A mixed-methods design involving quantitative and qualitative data collection processes was employed using a sample of 185 final-year students of science and economics education. Two instruments used for the study were a rating scale and an interview. A reliability index of 0.828 was achieved through Cronbach$s Alpha for the rating scale. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive methods, while thematic analysis was employed for the qualitative data. The findings of the study showed that the students possessed teamwork/collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and decision-making skills. The findings suggest that teachers should encourage the development of these skills during instruction by assigning tasks that challenge students, fostering teamwork, and promoting critical and creative thinking.

Science E-Library Resources and Science Students' Academic Achievement on Forest Conservation in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Nigeria

Abstract
The study is an empirical examination of science e-library resources and Science students' academic achievement on forest conservation in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Nigeria. Three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. The design of the study was quasi-experimental with non-randomised pretest, posttest group. The population consisted all the 2,335 Senior Secondary School Two (SS 2) Science students. The sample size of 183 (88 males and 95 females) Senior Secondary Two (SS 2) students in three intact classes of three co-educational secondary schools in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Nigeria were selected using purposive sampling technique. Science Achievement Test (SAT) was used for data collection. Science Achievement Test (SAT) had forty (40) items multiple choice questions. The test measured students' pretest and posttest achievement in the concept. The reliability of SAT was determined using Kuder-Richardson 20 (KR-20) with reliability indices of 0.82. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions, while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that there is significant difference in mean achievement scores of Science students taught forest conservation using science e-books, e-journals and e-magazines resources, with e-books and e-journals resources achieved better than e-magazines. Also, there is no significant difference in the mean achievement scores of male and female Science students taught forest conservation using science e-books, e-journals and e-magazines resources respectively. It was also found that there is no significant interaction effects of teaching resources and gender on Science students' achievement on forest conservation. It was concluded that science e-books and e-journals were more effective than e-magazines in facilitating students' achievement in forest conservation in Science. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others, that Science teachers should make effective use of science e-books and e-journals in teaching the concept of forest conservation in Science.

Leveraging Social Media Platforms to Enhance Voter Education and Mitigate Voter Apathy Among Youths in South East Nigeria

Abstract
This study investigated leveraging social media platforms to enhance voter education and mitigate voter apathy among youths in South East, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest non-equivalent groups research design. The population included all the youths eligible to vote in the South East. The sample of the study consisted of 32 young adults (aged 18-35) who were assigned to receive voter education content through either Facebook or X(Twitter) over a six-week intervention period. Two instruments were used for data collection namely: Voter Education Test (VET) and Voter Apathy Questioner (VAQ). The instruments were face validated by experts from XXX University. The internal consistency of the test items was established using Kuder-Richardson (K-R,20) while reliability of the VAQ was ascertained using Cronbach 'Alpha. The research questions were answered using Mean and Standard Deviation while the hypotheses were tested using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that participants exposed to Facebook-based voter education content demonstrated significantly higher posttest political education scores compared to those exposed to X (Twitter) -based content, after controlling for pretest differences. Similarly, the Facebook group showed significantly greater voter participation than the X (Twitter) group. The findings suggest that While both platforms have potential for voter education, Facebook unique features align better with the learning preferences, content consumption habits, and participation styles of young Nigerians. Also, the platform's ability to deliver timely electoral information including voter registration deadlines, polling locations, and candidate positions can normalize political participation as part of young users' social interactions. The study recommends prioritizing Facebook for youth-focused voter education and improved voter turnout among youths.

Awareness, Accessibility and Extent of Utilization of Plagiarism Detection Software for Improved Scholarly Communication by Postgraduate Students in Federal Universities in South-East Nigeria

Abstract
This study investigated the awareness, accessibility, utilization, and challenges of plagiarism detection software among postgraduate students in federal universities in South-East Nigeria. Five research questions guided the study. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised all postgraduate students enrolled in federal universities in South-East Nigeria. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Plagiarism Detection Software Awareness, Accessibility, Utilization and Challenges Questionnaire (PDSAUCQ), developed by the researchers. The instrument was validated by three experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach's alpha. The reliability coefficients obtained were: Cluster B on accessibility (0.82), Cluster C on utilization (0.88), Cluster D on challenges of accessibility (0.84), and Cluster E on challenges of utilization (0.87). The overall reliability coefficient for the entire instrument was 0.89. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including percentage points and mean scores. Findings revealed that postgraduate students were aware of only a limited number of plagiarism detection software tools, with Turnitin, Grammarly Plagiarism Checker, and QuillBot Plagiarism Checker showing the highest awareness levels. Despite this awareness, accessibility levels were low across all software tools, indicating that students lacked adequate institutional access. Only two tools recorded high accessibility scores. Utilization levels were critically low for all software tools examined, demonstrating minimal integration of these technologies into students' academic practices. The study also identified significant challenges in accessing and utilizing plagiarism detection software. The study recommended that federal universities should secure comprehensive institutional subscriptions to plagiarism detection software and integrate them into learning management systems with dedicated technical support; develop and implement mandatory comprehensive training programs for all postgraduate students; and establish clear institutional policies requiring submission of plagiarism detection reports alongside all postgraduate theses, dissertations, and major assignments.

Efficacy of Social Media Campaigns (Facebook & X) in Changing Attitudes Toward Alcohol Abuse Among Youths in Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State

Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of Facebook and X (twitter) in changing attitudes toward alcohol abuse among youths in Ukum LGA, Benue State. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design. The research employed a pretest–posttest non-equivalent groups quasi-experimental research design with 31 participants aged 18 to 35 years randomly assigned to two groups: Facebook exposure group (n=17) and X exposure group (n=14). Data were collected using the researcher-developed Attitude Toward Alcohol Abuse Scale (ATAAS), a 30-item Likert-type instrument measuring attitudes toward alcohol consumption on a four-point scale. The instruments were face validated by experts from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The internal consistency of the Attitude Toward Alcohol Abuse Scale is assessed using Cronbach's Alpha, which yielded a coefficient of 0.81. The intervention consisted of alcohol abuse prevention campaign contents delivered through each platform over a four-week period. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and one-way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) to test two null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that youths exposed to alcohol abuse campaign contents via Facebook demonstrated significantly greater attitude improvement compared to those exposed via X, with ANCOVA results confirming a statistically significant platform effect. Gender analysis showed that male youths exhibited significantly greater attitude improvement compared to females, with ANCOVA revealing a significant gender effect. The study recommended that public health agencies prioritize Facebook for alcohol abuse prevention campaigns targeting youth, develop gender-responsive content tailored to male and female information processing preferences, and conduct longitudinal research examining sustained behavior change and mechanisms underlying platform-specific effectiveness.

Effectiveness of Social Media Messages in Reducing Political Apathy Among Youths in South-East, Nigeria

Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of social media messages (Facebook and X) in reducing political apathy among youths in South-East, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided this study. The study adopted a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest non-equivalent groups design involving two treatment groups. The population consisted of all youths aged 18 to 35 years residing in South-East Nigeria who are active users of Facebook and X. A sample of 39 youths was drawn and assigned into intact groups serving as Facebook and X intervention groups. Data were collected using a researcher-developed Political Apathy Scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.83 determined using Cronbach alpha. The experimental procedure spanned four weeks, during which participants received weekly political engagement messages through their respective platforms. Data were analyzed using means, standard deviations, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that Facebook-based political engagement messages produced significantly greater reduction in political apathy levels compared to X-based messages. While male youths demonstrated greater descriptive reductions in apathy levels than female youths, gender did not produce statistically significant effects on apathy outcomes when controlling for pretest scores. The study recommended that political mobilization organizations prioritize Facebook for delivering political engagement content, develop gender-inclusive intervention strategies, and integrate Facebook-based campaigns into broader voter mobilization efforts.

Efficacy of Facebook and Tiktok in Enhancing Political Literacy and Civic Engagement Among Youths in Enugu State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of Facebook and TikTok as platforms for delivering civic education content to enhance political literacy and civic engagement among youths in Enugu State, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided this study. Using a pretest-posttest non-equivalent groups quasi-experimental design, 44 young adults (aged 18-35) were assigned to receive civic education content through either Facebook or TikTok over a six-week intervention period. Political literacy was assessed using a 40-item researcher-developed test, while civic engagement was measured using a 20-item Likert-type scale. The instruments were face validated by experts from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The internal consistency of the Political Literacy Test is determined using the Kuder–Richardson Formula 20 (KR-20), while the reliability of the Civic Engagement Scale is assessed using Cronbach's Alpha. PLT yielded a coefficient of 0.84 while CES yielded a coefficient of 0.79. Results from Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) revealed that participants exposed to TikTok-based civic content demonstrated significantly higher posttest political literacy scores compared to those receiving Facebook-based content, after controlling for pretest differences. Similarly, the TikTok group showed significantly greater civic engagement than the Facebook group. The findings suggest that TikTok's short-form video format, algorithm-driven content discovery, and youth-centric features may offer advantages over Facebook's text-heavy approach for civic education delivery among Nigerian youths. However, the small sample size, unequal content dosages between groups, and reliance on self-reported measures limit generalizability. The study recommended prioritizing TikTok for youth-focused civic education campaigns while calling for larger-scale research with more rigorous experimental controls to validate these preliminary findings.

Assessment of Utilization of Mobile Phone-Based Applications for Insecurity Incident Reporting in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja

Abstract
This study examined the utilization of mobile phone-based applications for insecurity incident reporting in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The study employed a descriptive survey research design with a population comprising all adult residents aged 18 years and above who own mobile phones and possess basic mobile phone literacy. A sample of 244 respondents was selected, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire titled "Mobile Phone-Based Applications for Insecurity Reporting Utilization Questionnaire" (MPAIRUQ). The instrument demonstrated high reliability with an overall Cronbachs alpha coefficient of 0.85. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency counts, percentages, means, and standard deviations. The findings revealed that phone call applications remained the predominant method for reporting insecurity incidents, with 79.9% utilization, while specialized mobile applications recorded minimal adoption rates below 30%. The extent of mobile application utilization for security reporting was low across all categories, with a grand mean of 2.32 below the 2.50 acceptance benchmark. Residents faced significant challenges including cultural beliefs, delayed security agency response times, high internet data costs, lack of trust in reporting systems, inadequate knowledge, and fear of reprisal, with a grand mean of 2.93 indicating agreement on all challenge items. The study recommended that security agencies establish reliable feedback mechanisms, the FCT Administration improve network infrastructure and subsidize data costs, and stakeholders conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns and digital literacy training programs to enhance mobile application adoption for insecurity incident reporting.

Effects of Students' Team Achievement Division (STAD) on Students' Achievement in Selected Secondary Schools Chemistry Concepts in Umuahia Education Zone of Abia State

Abstract
: This study investigated the effect of Students' Team Achievement Division (STAD) on Students' Achievement in Selected Secondary Schools Chemistry Concepts in Umuahia education zone of Abia State using a non-randomized pre-test, post-test quasi experimental design. The population consisted of 1665 SS1 chemistry students. Purposive sampling technique was used to obtain a sample size of 230 SS1 Chemistry students in intact classes. Data was generated through Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT).A reliability coefficient was calculated to be 0.92 using (K-R20) method. The research questions were analyzed using mean and standard deviation while ANCOVA was used for testing the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that there was a significant difference in the achievement of male and female students' taught selected chemistry concept using STAD. Consequently, it is recommended that Chemistry teachers should use STAD strategy in the classroom to avoid students' age long passiveness and poor achievement.

Assessment of BVAS as a Technological Tool for Curbing Electoral Malpractice in the 2023 Gubernatorial Elections in Enugu State

Abstract
This study assessed the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) as a technological tool for curbing electoral malpractice in the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Enugu State. The study specifically determined the extent BVAS reduced voter impersonation, the effectiveness of BVAS in curbing multiple voting, and the challenges encountered in its deployment and use. A mixed-methods convergent parallel design was adopted, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The population comprised 2,850 electoral stakeholders, from which 385 respondents were sampled using multi-stage sampling for the quantitative component, while 24 participants were purposively selected for in-depth interviews. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and a semi- structured interview guide. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation with a criterion mean of 2.50, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study found that BVAS significantly reduced voter impersonation through effective biometric authentication, deterrent effects, and elimination of fake Permanent Voter Cards. BVAS was effective in curbing multiple voting, though its cross-polling unit effectiveness was limited by network synchronization challenges. Significant challenges were encountered, including poor network connectivity, technical malfunctions, fingerprint capture failures, slow verification processes, software glitches, and accessibility difficulties for elderly and disabled voters. However, battery life, training adequacy, and power supply were not perceived as major challenges. The study concluded that BVAS substantially enhanced electoral integrity in Enugu State despite infrastructural and technical limitations. It was recommended that INEC should improve network infrastructure in rural areas, enhance BVAS accessibility features for vulnerable voters, and provide comprehensive training for poll workers on troubleshooting and problem- solving.

Academic Resilience, Locus of Control and Goal Orientation as Correlates of Secondary School Students' Achievement in Mensuration

Abstract
The study investigated academic resilience, locus of control and goal orientation as correlates of secondary school students' achievement in mensuration. Four research questions and four null hypotheses guided the study which adopted correlational research design. A sample of two hundred (200) SS I students was drawn for the study using two stage sampling procedure. Data were gathered using SARMQ, SLCQ, SAGOQ and MAT whose reliability indices were 0.876, 0.891, 0.821 and 0.76 respectively obtained using Cronbach Alpha and Kuder-Richardson20. Data were analyzed using linear regression and regression ANOVA to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings among others showed that: 19%, 6.9%, and 6.4% of secondary students' achievement in mensuration is predicted by their academic resilience, locus of control, and goal orientation towards mensuration. It was recommended that: students should learn how to develop academic resilience, locus of control and goal orientations to improve their mathematics achievement.

Development and Validation of an Instructional-Video Package to Teach Ceramic Art in Colleges of Education in Nigeria

Abstract
Ceramic art is a practical work of modeling clay into desired shapes, mostly done in a conventional instructional approach, with students' having often been challenged by limited practical opportunity to learn modeling using throwing wheel method, which is considered the most difficult in ceramic art, despite the physical guidance of the teacher. Consequently, this has continued to impede students' engagement and practical skills acquisition. Therefore, this study focused on the development and validation of instructional-video package designed to integrate a technological approach aimed at complementing and enhancing the teaching and learning of ceramic art in Colleges of Education in Nigeria. The study adopted a research and development design, validation of the instructional-video package was done by experts in ceramic art and educational technology to determine its content validity, instructional and technical quality and usability. Data was collected using structured validation checklist and rating scale, and analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. Results revealed that the instructional-video package was developed using ADDIE model as guide, while, ceramic art and educational technology experts' rated the instructional-video suitable to teach ceramic art. The study concluded that well-designed instructional-video package can effectively complement teaching ceramic art and improve students' engagement and practical skills development in ceramic art. It was recommended that art educators' and stakeholders support the development and utilization of locally made instructional media package to enhance effective teaching and learning of practical art courses.

Field-Trip, Computer Simulation and Expository Strategies on Science Students' Academic Achievement in Ecological Pyramids in Benin Municipality, Edo State

Abstract
The study investigated Field trip, Computer Simulation and Expository Instructional Strategies on science students' academic achievement on ecological pyramids in secondary schools in Benin Municipality. Three research questions and three null hypotheses gave direction to the study. The population of the study comprised all the 1,655 senior secondary two science students' in Benin Municipality Area, Edo State. The sample comprises 174 students' selected using simple random sampling technique. Science Achievement Test (SAT) on ecological pyramid was the instrument for data collection with reliability of 0.79 determined using Kuder- Richardson Formula -21. The face validity of SAT was done by two experienced school secondary science teachers and a lecturer in test, measurement and evaluation in the Department of Science Education. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer research questions while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypothesis at .05 level of significance. Findings of the study showed that science students' taught Ecological pyramids using field trip and computer simulation performed significantly better than those taught using expository strategies. Gender was found not to be a significant factor affecting students' achievement in the study.

Self-Reflection and Open-Mindedness Critical Thinking Dispositions as Predictors of Students' Procedural Fluency Skills in Mathematics in Cross River State

Abstract
The study sought to predict students' procedural fluency skills in Mathematics by their self-reflection and open-mindedness critical thinking dispositions in Cross River State, Nigeria. three research questions guided the study, while three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The predictive correlational research design was used in the study. The population of the study comprised 4,420 SS2 students in Ikom Educational Zone, Cross River State. The sample for this study was 367 SS2 students drawn by multistage sampling procedure. Self-reflection and Open-mindedness Critical Thinking Disposition Scale (SOCTDS) and Mathematical Procedural Fluency Scale (MPFS), developed by the researchers were used for data collection. SOCTDS and MPFS showed internal consistency of 0.87 and 0.86, respectively using Cronbach alpha statistic. Data were analyzed by simple and multiple linear regression analyses. Findings showed that students' self-reflection and open-mindedness critical thinking dispositions predict 28% and 36%, respectively, and jointly predict 50% of their procedural fluency skills in Mathematics. It was concluded in the study that self-reflection and open-mindedness critical thinking dispositions are crucial predictors of students' procedural fluency in Mathematics in Cross River State, Nigeria. It was recommended, among others, that teachers should encourage students to develop self-reflection and open-mindedness critical thinking dispositions for improved students' procedural fluency skills in Mathematics.

Perceived Influence of Social Media on Intelligence Gathering and Information Sharing Among Security Agencies in Enugu State

Abstract
This study examined the perceived influence of social media on intelligence gathering and information sharing among security agencies in Enugu State. Employing a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 195 security personnel across multiple agencies using a structured questionnaire (SMISOQ). Descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation, were used to analyze responses based on a four-point Likert scale, with 2.50 as the benchmark for acceptance. Findings revealed that security personnel hold positive perceptions regarding social media's influence on both intelligence gathering and information sharing operations. Respondents perceived social media as enhancing their ability to gather real-time intelligence on criminal activities, identify security threats, and provide valuable investigative leads. Additionally, security personnel perceived social media as facilitating faster inter-agency information sharing, enabling simultaneous dissemination of information, and improving operational coordination. However, concerns were noted regarding advanced analytics capabilities and encryption security for sensitive information. The study concluded that security agencies in Enugu State recognize social media's potential value despite existing technological and infrastructural constraints. Recommendations included establishing formal social media intelligence frameworks, investing in advanced analytics infrastructure, and implementing comprehensive training programs for security personnel.

Urban and Rural Students’ Perception of Use of Indigenous Language in Teaching Secondary School Biology

Abstract
The study investigated students’ perception of use of indigenous in secondary school Biology classroom. The study was conducted using SS2 students in Abakaliki Education Zone, Ebonyi State. The design of the study was descriptive survey. One research question and one hypothesis guided the study. 150 students randomly selected from 5 urban and 5 rural government secondary schools formed the sample. The instrument used for data collection was validated Students’ Perception of Indigenous Language Questionnaire (SPILQ, r = 0.76). The research question was answered using mean and standard deviation while the hypothesis was tested at 0.05 degree of significance using independent sample t-test. The findings revealed that urban and rural students generally perceived that indigenous language should be used in biology teaching in secondary schools. Based on the findings, it is recommended that teacher training programs should include modules on use of indigenous language and its application in biology teaching, and Curriculum planners should also incorporate indigenous language into the biology curriculum. Publishers are encouraged to develop textbooks in indigenous languages

Using AI and Data Analytics to Reduce Unemployment in Nigeria: A youth Empowerment Approach

Abstract
Unemployment among the youth still remains as one of the most acute socio-economic problems of Nigeria, which is very dangerous to the national growth and social integration. Traditional job market policies have failed in most instances to match the gap that is becoming increasingly bigger between labour market demands and the youth skills. In the current paper, it is discussed that potential solutions to youth unemployment presented by artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics can serve as effective and powerful tools to support the process of expanding and improving efficient and youth-oriented labour market participation. It suggests the holistic approach based on AI-powered skills training, data-driven job alignment, and AI-powered entrepreneurship, in particular in the gig economy. The analysis highlights the need to change the policy in a synchronised manner and carry out institutional changes to facilitate an environment where AI integration would be possible through the coordinated actions of government bodies, educational meetings, and the private sector. Finally, this paper is a call to transform the reactive and politically driven models of employment into proactive, data-driven models that would provide Nigerian youth with the competencies related to the economic environment and connect them to the long-term economic prospects. It is emphasised that to realise the potential of Nigeria population (youth), to become an innovative society, and to maintain economic growth, a youth-centric AI empowerment approach is necessary. This plan does not only address the issue of unemployment but also prepares the youthful generation in Nigeria to be the driving force of a digital age national development.

Error Analysis as Predictor of Senior Secondary School Students' Academic Achievement in Mathematics

Abstract
This study examined how mathematical error types—conceptual, procedural, and computational—predict secondary school students' achievement in mathematics. Using a correlational research design, the study involved 120 students from Abia State. Data were collected with Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) and an Error Analysis Checklist (EAC). Instrument validity was confirmed by three mathematics education experts and two specialists in measurement and evaluation. Scorer reliability, assessed using Kendall's coefficient of concordance with four scorers, yielded coefficients of 0.82 for the MAT and 0.73 for the EAC. Pearson correlation analysis revealed significant prediction of mathematics achievement by conceptual (R² =.75), procedural (R² = .874), and computational errors (R² = .87) at p < 0.05. Multiple regression analysis showed that the error types jointly explained 93.3% of the variance in mathematics achievement (R² = 0.933). The study recommends error analysis, targeted remediation strategies, and teacher capacity-building to enhance students' mathematical performance. Keywords:

Prevalence and Determinants of Burnout among Nigerian Primary School Teachers: Implications for Community Psychology

Abstract
According to studies, instructors who carry out their duties daily report significant levels of psychosocial job hazards and burnout. The nature of the association between psychosocial job hazards and teachers' burnout levels in the Nigerian context, however, are poorly supported by empirical data. Based on this fact and using age and marital status as moderating variables, this research investigated the prevalence and determinants of burnout among primary school teachers. Using a cross-sectional survey research design, a sample of 254 primary school teachers in Enugu State, Nigeria were surveyed. A 28-item psychosocial work hazards questionnaire (α =.74) and a 25-item burnout inventory (α = 0.81) that were fully validated and trial-tested were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling methods and hierarchical linear regression. The findings of the study revealed a high prevalence of burnout (58.3%) among rural community primary school teachers. It was also found that burnout and primary school teachers' s work hazards were positively and significantly correlated. In addition, burnout among primary school teachers significantly correlated with age and marital status. Thus, workplace psychosocial risks are effective predictors of burnout. These findings have implications for community psychology because the goals of primary education cannot be achieved unless the burnout rate among teachers is drastically reduced through the efforts of the community psychologist.

Influence of Field Trip on Academic Performance and Interest of Students in Chemistry in Senior Secondary Schools in Enugu State

Abstract
This research examined the influence of field trip on the academic performance and interest of senior secondary school students in chemistry in Enugu State. The research design used was the descriptive survey. The study was guided by three purposes, three research questions, with the corresponding null hypotheses. The sample of the study was three Hundred (300) senior secondary school students in class 2 (SS2) drawn from schools in the area of the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. It was validated by three experts. The reliability of the instrument was determined using the Cronbach's alpha reliability estimate with an overall index of 0.89. The data collected was analyzed using the mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while the hypotheses were tested using the one sample t-test. The study revealed among other things that field trip method improves students' academic performance and interest in chemistry. The study found also that lack of means of transportation, insecurity, among others are the factors that hinder effective field trip implementation in secondary schools. Based on the findings, the study recommended among other things that school authorities should plan academic activities with adequate time allocation for application of field trips in teaching and learning of chemistry.

Evaluation of the Availability and Utilization of Facilities for Implementing Mathematics Component of Nursery Curriculum in Rivers State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study evaluated the availability and utilization of faciltiies for implementing mathematics component of nursery curriculum in Rivers State, Nigeria. The study was conducted using evaluation design. Context, Input, Process, Product, Constraint (CIPPC) Model was used with emphases on Input (human and material resources) and Process (resources interaction). Validated Instruments (Observation scale and questionnaires) with reliability coefficient of 0.81 were used. Multistage sampling procedure involving Simple random sampling and stratified sampling techniques was used to select a sample of 200 teachers from 1,970 Mathematics teachers in 10 Government owned and Government approved private Nursery schools from 10 Local Government Areas in Rivers State. Stratified random sampling technique was used to stratify schools into urban and rural. Two research questions and one null hypotheses guided the study. Frequency count, mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions while independent sample t-test at 0.05 alpha level of significant was used to test the hypothesis. The results revealed that availability and utilization of instructional and infrastructural facilities were above average. It was recommended among others that Government make more instructional materials/facilities available.

Abstract
The study examined the utilization of digital tools in broadcasting educational contents to adult learners in North-West, Nigeria. Three objectives were stated and transformed into research questions and a hypothesis to be responded to and tested respectively. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. 9,903 students across 28 study centers in the region constituted the entire population of the study and 345 students comprised the sample size for the study. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled: Digital Tools Utilization for Broadcasting Educational Contents Questionnaire (DTUBECQ) was used for data collection, designed in three (3) clusters. A reliability coefficient of 0.829 was determined. The data obtained was analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). Percentage was used to answer the research question for cluster A, while mean and standard deviation were used to answer the 4-point rating scale used for cluster B and C, and t-test for independent sample statistic was used to test the null hypothesis stated at 0.05 level of significance. Findings from the study revealed that to a high extent, digital radios, television, WhatsApp, and Facebook platforms are the main digital tools used for broadcasting educational contents to learners. Also, the result revealed that unreliable internet connectivity, cost of data and the inability to balance learning with family responsibilities are challenges affecting the utilization of digital tools to adult learners. Based on these findings, it was recommended that there should be presence of flexible technological infrastructure in North-West Nigeria, particularly in rural areas, Government and concerned stakeholders should implement targeted digital literacy programs for adult learners to build their confidence and skills in using IT tools for education in the region.

Teaching Calculus Through GeoGebra and Microsoft Mathematics Software in Determining Students' Interest

Abstract
This study examines the teaching of calculus using GeoGebra and Microsoft mathematics software in determining students' interest. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were posed in carrying the study, and tested at 0.05level of significance. Factorial design was used. Intact classes of one hundred and sixty (160) students of SSS3 mathematics were purposively used in Idah Education Zone areas of Kogi State as the sample. The classes were randomly assigned to experimental group1(Microsoft mathematics) and experimental group2 (GeoGebra). Calculus Interest Scale (CIS) instrument was used for data collection. Using Cronbach alpha, 0.82 reliability index was obtained for CIS. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer research questions and the null hypotheses were tested using Covariance Analysis (ANCOVA). The results of this study revealed that Microsoft mathematics software have significant mean ratings of students' interest in calculus. Based on the analysis, it was recommended that mathematics teachers utilize GeoGebra and Microsoft mathematics software in their classes to facilitate and sustain students' interest in calculus.

Effects of GeoGebra and Microsoft Mathematics Software on Students' Achievement in Calculus among Secondary School Students in Idah Education Zone

Abstract
This study examines application of GeoGebra and Microsoft mathematics software in determining students' achievement in calculus. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. Factorial research design was used. Intact classes consisting of one hundred and sixty (160) students of SSS3 mathematics were purposively used in Kogi State Education Zone of Idah. Calculus Achievement Test (CAT) instrument was used for data collection. The CAT consisted of 30 multiple choice test items with five options (A-E) developed by the investigator to test the students' achievement in calculus. The CAT items were formed from differentiation and integration. The highest score that can be obtained on CAT is 30 and the lowest is 0. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions, and the hypotheses were tested using Covariance Analysis (ANCOVA). The study found that senior secondary school students who learned calculus using GeoGebra and Microsoft Mathematics software achieved higher average scores with those taught using GeoGebra software having higher means gain, suggesting that these strategies effectively enhance student learning outcomes in calculus. Based on the results, it was recommended that mathematics educators introduce Microsoft mathematics software in their classes.

Promoting Learning of Students with Disabilities in an Inclusive Science Education Classroom Using Artificial Intelligence

Abstract
For students with learning disabilities (LD), mastering basic skills or academic content can feel like an uphill battle. Many struggle to process spoken or written language in conventional classroom settings. Before AI entered the picture, science education often left these learners behind - lessons rarely adapted to individual needs, support systems were limited, and specialized tools were scarce. Teachers typically had to modify standard materials rather than develop truly customized learning approaches. Now, AI is changing the game. By creating systems that mimic human intelligence - capable of learning, problem-solving, and understanding language - we're opening new doors in science education. These smart technologies can finally provide the personalized, accessible learning experiences that students with disabilities need to thrive. Instead of forcing learners to adapt to rigid systems, AI allows us to build flexible educational environments that adapt to each student's unique way of learning. AI has a potential to personalize learning, enhance accessibility, and provide adaptive support, ultimately leading to improved learning outcomes and greater engagement for diverse learners. This paper highlights understanding learning disability, students with learning disabilities in science education, the inclusive science education classroom, the concept of AI, the role of AI in promoting learning of students with learning disabilities, Challenges to effective integration of AI in teaching of students with learning disabilities and finally the possible solutions to the challenges. The research concludes that AI should be actively incorporated into science classrooms to enhance accessibility and inclusivity, especially for learners with disabilities.

Teacher's Qualification as a Correlates of Pupils' Academic Achievement in English Language in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria

Abstract
The study examined the relationship between teacher's qualification and pupils' academic achievement in English Language in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The design of the study was correlation survey design. The population of the study was 3,206 comprises 2,100 primary five (5) pupils and 1,106 teachers. The sample size was 440 respondents comprises 400 pupils and 40 teachers drawn from the target population using simple random sampling technique. The instruments for data collection were Teacher's Qualification Scale (TQS) and English Language Achievement Test (ELAT) which were validated by 3 experts from the Faculty of Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The ELAT was trial tested and subjected to reliability testing using Kuder Richardson 20 and the reliability coefficient was 0.90. Pearson correlation was used to answer the research questions while Regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results show that a significant positive but weak relationship exists between teacher's qualification and pupils' academic achievement in English Language. Again, it was found that school location has significant positive influence on the relationship between teacher's qualification and pupils' academic achievement in English Language. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that teachers with lower qualification should be mandated to upgrade their qualification irrespective of the location of their schools.

Comparative Effects of Students' Team Achievement Division and Jigsaw Cooperative Strategies on Secondary School Students' Achievement and Retention in Chemistry, Uyo, Nigeria

Abstract
This research explored the effects of Students' Team Achievement Division (STAD) and Jigsaw instructional methods on academic achievement and retention in chemistry among senior secondary students in Uyo, Nigeria. Using a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized pre-test–post-test approach, the study involved 178 students from four secondary schools. A 50-item multiple-choice Chemistry Achievement Test on Electrolysis was administered, yielding a reliability coefficient of 0.72. Data analysis through mean, standard deviation, and ANCOVA revealed that students taught with the Jigsaw method scored significantly higher, while STAD students showed better retention. It is recommended that chemistry educators implement both strategies to improve learning outcomes.

Influence of Level of Education on Safe Motherhood Practice of Childbearing Mothers: Implication to Early Exceptionalities

Abstract
This study sought to determine the influence of education on safe motherhood practices of childbearing mother and its implication for early childhood in Nsukka Enugu State Nigeria. Four research questions and one hypothesis guided the study and were analyzed using percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that education of child bearing mothers did not influence their practice of safe motherhood initiative namely prenatal care, intrapartum care, postnatal care, and abortion care. The finding was not expected therefore a surprise. This is because the educational level of any group or individuals is expected to inform and influence their practice of a health-related behavior. Hence, the study recommended that mothers with formal and informal levels of education should be encouraged to seek health care services during prenatal care, intrapartum care, postnatal care and abortion care. The acquisition of levels of education should not be criteria for seeking safe motherhood initiative. The conclusion, implication to early exceptionalities and recommendation were proffered.

Effectiveness of Biometric Verification Systems on Control of Fraudulent Practices in Nsukka Civil Service, Enugu State. Nigeria

Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of Biometric Verification Systems on Control of fraudulent practices in Nsukka Local Government Civil Service in Nsukka Local Government, Enugu State. This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The study was conducted in Nsukka local government area. The population of the study comprised of 50 civil servants in Nsukka LGA. The study adopted multistage sampling techniques; the researcher deployed a structured instrument titled effectiveness of Biometric Verification Systems in Controlling Fraud Questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts, all from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In order to establish the reliability of the instrument, 10 copies were administered on 10 civil servants in Uzo Uwani local government area. A Cronbach Alpha method was used to estimate the internal consistency, with the overall reliability coefficient of 0.75, suggesting that the instrument was reliable and suitable for the study. The data was collected using google form. To provide an answer to the research questions, mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data collected. Findings indicate that payroll-related fraud, ghost worker syndrome, and unauthorized salary payments are prevalent in Nsukka Local Government Civil Service. Fingerprint and facial recognition systems are the major biometric technologies currently available. Advanced biometric systems are largely unavailable, limiting comprehensive fraud control. However, challenges such as technological infrastructure deficits, capacity constraints, and resistance to change impede optimal performance. Recommendations focus on strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing technical capacity, and reinforcing data integrity to maximise biometric systems' impact on public sector governance.
